Betaseed's production facility is in the southern part of the Willamette Valley of Oregon where we have our own field production team, processing facility and dedicated seed production area.

We have our own seed growers who produce the seed for us on a contractual basis and most of whom have been working with us for many years. They have built up years of practical experience in the production of this complex biennial seed crop. Our own technicians work closely with each grower to insure that his seed crop receives timely and expert advice from planting through seed harvest, and the subsequent delivery of the crop to our processing facility in Tangent, Oregon.

At Tangent, we clean, process, coat, treat and package the seed for delivery to each area growing sugarbeets throughout North America. We trace every step of the procedure by computer to maintain crop and seed lot integrity. Betaseed’s proprietary PROHANCEDÒ seed coating eliminates dust, improves plantability and gives a more uniform stand - which reduces labor costs and provides for better harvestability.

At our on-site laboratory, each seed lot is checked by our Quality Assurance Team at every stage during the seed processing operation. This insures that our established standards for seed lot integrity, physical purity, germination, calibration and plantability are maintained.

Betaseed's UltiPro^®

UltiPro is the newest Betaseed product that has been developed to speed up germination and increase uniformity in emergence of sugarbeet seed.

UltiPro primed sugarbeet seed results in faster germination and increased uniformity of seedling emergence. Only seed lots that meet rigorous germination and emergence standards are sold as UltiPro primed seed.

The advantages of UltiPro are most obvious when weather conditions are cool and damp or when soils are prone to crusting soon after planting. Dr. Herath Lansakara, Seed Technology Manager, has shown that sugarbeet yields can be increased through early, uniform emergence and UltiPro primed seed has proven to result in a quicker and more uniform stand establishment.



UltiPro will be most beneficial when:

• seedling germination and emergence are affected by cool, damp, and stressful weather;
• soils crust soon after planting and;
• used with varieties that have a genetic tendency to be slower or less uniform to germinate and emerge.
