“BTS 3020 is a new variety offering very high yield potential, high sugar content and provides a step forward for the earlier drilling opportunity on farm. In ESB trials sown before 5th March, BTS 3020 has a 3-year mean of 675 bolters per 100,000 plants, and showed the lowest average count for ESB across all seasons tested, making it one of the most secure varieties for drilling at earlier sowing dates.
BTS 3020 offers comprehensive disease resistance - Rust (7.5) and Powdery Mildew (4.6) - important for the earlier drilling situation. Limited European Betaseed disease data suggests that BTS 3020 benefits from good Cercospora tolerance and this is supported by the limited UK 3-year data set, shown on the 2022 Recommended List."
