It's no secret that a lack of water availability during the summer season can be a limiting factor for sugar beet yields. That's why we've developed BetaCare DROUGHT, a service that provides farmers with financial support, in terms of seed prices, in the event of a summer drought.
A £45 BTS CREDIT IN THE EVENT OF DROUGHT
BetaCare DROUGHT is a service that offers a £45 BTS Credit on Betaseed seeds in the event of summer drought. We support you, even in difficult times! Buy now your seeds online or via our sales representatives to benefit from the BetaCare DROUGHT service.
The drought discount is triggered when the cumulative rainfall recorded over July and August at the nearest weather station is below the defined threshold.
1. Buy your seeds direct: either via our online shop, or via our sales representatives.
2. Choose the variety you want to buy. For each variety, choose the BetaCare DROUGHT service as a free benefit.
3. In the checkout process you will give a postal code for your sugar beet field. We will assign to you the weather station that is the closest to your field.
4. If during the next summer, the cumulative rainfall recorded over July and August at this weather station is below the defined threshold, you will be granted a £45 BTS Credit per unit. We will consider here the number of units for which you chose this benefit when you ordered.
5. You will then be able to use this BTS Credit as a discount for your next direct purchase: online or via our salesrepresentatives.

For some stations, the full history of meteorological data over the last 20 years is not always available or complete. Betaseed has selected only those weather stations for which the most complete rainfall records are available.
In addition, all daily rainfall is limited to 30 mm MAXIMUM when calculating rainfall and the threshold in order to reduce the impact of localised storms. For example, if it rains 45 mm in one day at a weather station, only 30 mm will be taken into account when calculating the sum of precipitation over July-August.
The conditions of participation and further information on the BetaCare DROUGHT reward are available here.
